Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Against Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 charges he is charged with:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to contact the investigating team.
