NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features live text of Sunday's games via various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on designated networks for another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , following recent talk regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Notable in those games were the number of infractions both committed. The Eagles did so at crucial times so they essentially defeated themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter versus the Denver Broncos, set to play overseas this weekend.
But it was good to see that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to have that deficit and then lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory by four points.
Denver have the top defender with cornerback their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that battle.
They executed the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing more than four pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
Early on of the season, it was noted on a program that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then excelled of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's dark horses?
New tight end their tight end has excelled significantly while recent RB JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that Denver are a team that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in favourable situations.
It's also benefited QB Bo Nix, who entered into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, passing for 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw all over, however they don't move in the same way as Nix. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths include his movement, being able to throw on the run, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can throw precision throws across the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently run the ball it eats up the clock and forces the opponent to be on the field extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defence has to cover the area vertically side to side. This proves draining.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton during games at times and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback who's kind of like moldable clay. The coach can truly build something up how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.
The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now passed Bill Parcells in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed it all. In my opinion the success Denver are experiencing on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and boost confidence.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team good enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing above average, which is a good place to hold the AFC West. All they need to do to continue this path.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is the ground game, and this is precisely what they should do versus the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be the JK Dobbins show, essentially.
New York have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team without a win any game.
Ever since the league started recording takeaways decades ago, this team are the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising considering that the head coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB says Kansas City are off to a poor start after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
Following the upcoming matchup, the Broncos face a manageable slate up to their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
In their division, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
