Jurgen Klopp says rejoining to coach Liverpool is theoretically possible.
The German coach, who stepped down from Liverpool in 2024, has suggested that returning someday is something that could happen. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-year spell that included continental glory and the Reds’ first league title since 1990, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and providing guidance with the German Football League.
Supporters’ Hopes and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
Liverpool won the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea that he might come back one day. During an extensive chat, he told the podcast host: “I stated I refuse to lead another team in England. Which implies in case it's my former club...yeah. It's plausible.”
“I’m 58, so I could make the decision later on, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. Fortunately, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on what circumstances would have to unfold to tempt his return to the touchline, Klopp admitted he isn't eager toward coming back. “I don’t even know exactly, I love what I do right now,” he commented. “I don't crave being a coach; I avoid standing in the rain for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, however, dining out alongside the squad enjoying conversation, that’s nice. We won a lot of games meaning regularly great spirits at the club. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He spoke highly for his successor, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship in the previous season. The team has suffered four consecutive matches in all competitions after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the suggestion of it representing a decline.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, excellent performer. They have a strong thoughtfully assembled roster. Fans shouldn't fret regarding the Reds, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
He shared movingly regarding the passing of the Portuguese star, a 2020 acquisition while in charge, along with the consequences at the club. The forward was killed in a vehicle collision together with his sibling in July.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his footballing ability, it's his character. I struggle to conceive the team environment without him in it. I find it difficult to discuss on this topic. A devastating blow for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool might employ it for poor performances though it's a fact. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it on a personal level is challenging. Overwhelming.”
