Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a Reform UK election victory, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a walkout by educators very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“Farage has built his political career on dog-whistle politics and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.

However, his comments indicated the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to analytical thought, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that young minds be corrupted at school, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.

Roughly a million individuals work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of young people to your online courses. I pledge this now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a small private Christian college, offers free courses. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
